Departmental Responsibilities

Teaching: Chris teaches at undergraduate and M.A. Levels in the Lincoln School of Media, across a range of disciplines including single-camera film-making, Audio Production & Research & Development, and in particular, editing and post-production.

Research Interests

He is currently examining the way programme structure and viewer attention spans have been affected during the growth of non-linear editing systems, such as Avid, Final Cut Pro, Lightworks and Premier, and how Internet trends such as Web TV, and User Generated Content are informing and changing viewing habits.

Biography

Chris has 24 years experience working at the BBC – where he was a Film and Non-Linear Editor, and Supervising Editor – giving him a broad perspective on traditional techniques, current best practice and future new media trends.

Practice/Research: Chris is combining being a practitioner – continuing to work as a freelance editor on film and television projects – with other research activity. He is a musician and sound designer on a variety of projects. Chris also acts in an advisory role on editing and post-production workflows and installations.
